Platform Release 34 - What's New

27.06.16
Hello everyone, It's time for our next release! It comes with a new app, several new important features and interface improvements as well as bug fixes and performance enhancements.

New app for data export

We released a new Manage app: Export Data for Microarray Assays. Now you can export the microarrays from public experiments or the ones that shared with you. Moreover, the app generates a special download link which can be sent to your colleague or anyone who even isn't registered on Genestack. export microarray data

Sorting columns in Metainfo Editor

We added a new feature to our Metainfo Editor: now you can sort the columns. How can you do that“ Click on the column name and you'll see the "A-Z" feature.sort columns metainfoeditor

Text Description of File Provenance

After you performed the analysis, you can open the final file in the File Provenance to the the whole pipeline. And there is a button "View as text". This includes all steps (with descriptions, tools used) included in this pipeline. view as text file provenance It's very useful new addition, as now you can copy this text and use it e.g. in your publication.

Attachments during data import

Another cool feature we added to our platform is the possibility of adding attachments to your uploaded data. When you upload your experiment you can now attach various files to it - for example: notes about your experiment (about data, about experimental steps, library preparation), pdf file with the plan of the experiment, R script that you used to preprocess your data, etc. When you open your newly-imported experiment all these attachments will accompany it. They will be safely stored on Genestack, so later you can download them from the platform, in case they get lost. How to upload the attachment“ The attachments are uploaded together with the experiment data. On Genestack, there are three steps of importing data: 1) Upload (the green cloud sign): where users drop the files, choose them from the computer, use previous uploads, import from URL). Here you can choose your experiment data as well as the pdfs, scripts and other attachments 2) Import - where the platform recognises the file types. Here the platform recognises the raw data and the fact that you have uploaded the unrecognised files (with your attachments). The platform will put all these unrecognised uploads as attachments to the experiment, 3) Edit metainfo step. Here's what happens when you upload a .png picture: adding attachments To go the the Import app and import you data with attachments, click here.

Performance improvements:

1) We improved metainfo import from spreadsheet - Genestack now supports various file types including metainfo ( for example .xlsx, .xls, .ods, .csv, .tsv, .txt) . Before this improvement, our users had to copy the excel tables and paste them into the Import table on Genestack. Now users can choose the file containing metainfo from their computer or simply drop it into the Import app. 2) We significantly improved the performance of dictionaries in Metainfo Editor and of File Browser: especially when you open large folder and public experiments. These are the most important changes we have introduced since the last Platform Release note. You might notice with the current release note, we've introduced a new numbering scheme. Keep tabs on Genestack and stay tuned for more exciting features and updates! If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to leave them in comments below or email us. Genestack team
