Cambridge, 7 March 2016 Genestack, the developer of a next generation enterprise platform for genomics research and development, will be making new tools for agri-genomics available on its platform for early adopters as part of a project with Rothamsted Research. Rothamsted and Genestack are working together, to enable tools developed at Rothamsted, to be used on the Genestack platform. By using the tools researchers will be able to use high-throughput bioinformatics technologies to accelerate the development of new technologies to improve crops. The new tools available will allow users of the Genestack platform to access the latest techniques for multi-omics data and literature mining for gene networks. Researchers using these new techniques can more effectively mine public domain data to link traits to gene function and ultimately to understand complex crop traits and improve their yields, nutritional quality, as well as tolerance against diseases or drought. Misha Kapushesky, CEO of Genestack said: "With work on the project now well underway, we are now able to start deploying these new agri-genomics tools on the platform. By combining the tools with our universal platform, we can significantly help researchers in developing new plants and crops through the provision of effective and innovate agri-genomics tools." Keywan Hassani-Pak, Head of Applied Bioinformatics at Rothamsted said: "We are excited to be working with Genestack on this Innovate UK project. The integration of Ondex/QTLNetMiner into Genestack's bioinformatics platform will increase the visibility of these tools and make it easier for industrial partners to access them within a secure, cloud-based framework." Since its establishment in 2011, Genestack has expanded significantly. From its offices in Cambridge and St Petersburg, it now runs a globally used next generation enterprise platform for genomics research and development, which has a growing range of academic and commercial users.
