As CEO of Genestack, Misha leads the company’s business growth and oversees the development of the Genestack platform. Misha has over two decades of experience in dealing with big data in genomics and has participated in and led international consortia applying bioinformatics to medical research. Before founding Genestack in 2011, Misha was a functional genomics team leader at the EBI, where his team developed bioinformatics data systems for academia and industry, such as Gene Expression Atlas. He was educated at Cambridge (Ph.D., Genetics), Oxford and Cornell Universities (B.S., Mathematics, magna cum laude).

Sergey backed Genestack since its inception in 2011. He is a tireless innovator in the field of software development, and a lot of his work contributed to revolutionise the way developers program today. Sergey is co-founder of JetBrains, of which he is currently President, where he co-invented and co-created IntellijIDEA, a leading Java integrated development environment (IDE) for developing computer software. Before JetBrains, some of his other contributions include TogetherJ, bug tracker, GIS system, and image recognition system. Sergey holds a Master in Mathematics from the Saint Petersburg State University.

As Head of Engineering at Genestack, Dmitry oversees product delivery with a focus on quality, speed, and technical innovation. With over 20 years of experience in software development and five years in engineering management, he specializes in building effective teams and optimizing processes.

Before joining Genestack, Dmitry worked at Yandex and earned degrees in Software Development and Business Assessment from Altay State Technical University (ASTU). His expertise spans fintech, medtech, and biotech, where he combines technical leadership with a practical approach to innovation.

In his role, Dmitry is committed to aligning engineering efforts with company goals and driving continuous improvement within the team.

As well as managing all of the financial aspects of the business, Clare is part of the Genestack management team, developing business strategy and objectives. Clare is using her knowledge and skills to ensure we have access to better information to enable us to make better decisions as we grow the business. Clare’s professional career has included financial and non–financial roles, from being a Partner at Baker Tilly, a Senior Manager at Deloitte, and Managing Director of Scintacor. Over the last ten years Clare has specialised in advising small & growing businesses, and her experience spans from the development and implementation of business strategies and objectives, to the implementation and management of associated financial structures and arrangements.

Katia joined Genestack in 2015 as Director of Operations, managing the Human Resources function, and contributing to the company strategy and general management. Previously Katia ran her own art consultancy for a decade, after which she continued her research and have published several books on art-related subjects. Her degree in History of Art and previous experience in the art business allows Katia to be more rounded and have an unconventional approach to the challenges of a growing company. She holds a BA in History of Art from the St Petersburg Russian Christian Institute of Humanities, and a CPGS in History of Art from University of Cambridge.

Colin Whittaker is a highly-experienced Information Security leader who has managed information security risk and compliance, across government and in the private sector. This experience has given him a deep appreciation of the wider public and private regulatory agenda and the issues it is trying to address. He uses his experience and insights to develop and promote reasoned and pragmatic risk management strategies to protect business; where necessary striking the risk balance between compliance and security. Prior to forming his own company, to help all enterprises make better informed risk decisions, he was the Carlson Wagonlit Travel’s EMEA Region Information Security Officer where he provided direction and leadership on information security across EMEA. His experience in government comes from a career in the military and leading defence information security programmes.

Alexey is responsible for driving Genestack's product strategy forward. Alexey brings software product management experience from his previous roles at Insilico Medicine, Clarivate Analytics, Thomson Reuters, GeneGo where he led the development of life-science software products. During the various roles he held in his career, Alexey gained extensive experience across the full development cycle of life-science software products, starting from customer requirements collection and business case building to product delivery. At Clarivate Analytics and Thomson Reuters he was the Product Manager for the Cortellis Products for Systems Biology, Drug Discovery and Generics Intelligence (GeneGo MetaCore, Key Pathway Advisor, MetaBase, Drug research Advisor, Newport). Alexey holds a MSc in Bioengineering and Bioinformatics from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU).

Dr. Alvis Brazma is a Senior Scientist at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and is responsible for gene expression resources at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI). He studied mathematics at the University of Latvia, obtained his PhD from Moscow State University and joined EMBL in 1997. He has over a hundred scientific publications and is a Principal Investigator on several large collaborative genomics and biomedical projects, including the European renal cancer project of the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC). He is co-leading the working group on data integration for the Pan-cancer Whole Genome project of the ICGC.

Ketan joined Genestack’s scientific advisory board in 2019. Ketan is an experienced life sciences and healthcare professional with fifteen years of experience in Pharmaceutical R&D and Health Sciences. He has a track record of delivering innovative computational solutions and capabilities throughout his career in top companies such as Astra Zeneca, Eli Lilly, Oracle, Pfizer. Ketan’s areas of expertise are R&D and health informatics, genomics, precision medicine, and systems biology, with a focus on analytics, data integration, healthcare data, data visualisation, data mining, machine learning, oncology, biomarkers, and NGS analysis. He holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics from the University of Oxford.
